Our guest house
Xenonas SifnosOur "Xenonas" – which translates as "guest house" –, is a cozy little villa built in 2011 from natural stone in island-typical architecture. It is located on Sifnos, one of the most beautiful Cyclades islands in Greece, in the middle of nature and offers on approx. 65 sqm comfort, quietness and seclusion for four people.
The spot
36°57'54.2"N 24°44'32.2"E – these are the coordinates of our guesthouse. The property with about 12.000 sqm is located only a few minutes by car from the main town Apollonia and the numerous beaches in the east and south of the island, but away from all the hustle and bustle in a very rural and original area. The access via the bumpy gravel road reliably keeps away all too curious "island explorers". Firgani (as the area is called) therefore stands for seclusion, nature and pure quietness and offers reliable retreats even in the high season, when it gets crowded in town and on the beaches.
Our main house is also located on the property. However, both houses are built in such a way that one does not disturb the other.
The nearest bus stop is about 10 minutes walk away. Nevertheless we recommend to rent a moped or a car. There are several car rental companies on Sifnos, for example Apollo www.automotoapollo.gr or Proto Moto Car www.protomotocar.gr.
Size and layout
The architect house solidly built in 2011 in island-typical architecture from natural stone offers intelligently used approx. 65 square meters. With its south-east - orientation there is protection against the sometimes strong northwest wind ("Meltemi" called) and a magic view over olives, the Aegean Sea and every morning new breathtaking sunrises, which one can enjoy from the bed. With two bedrooms (one with a double bed, one with two single beds and with its own entrance, but also passage in the house), two bathrooms (each with shower, sink and toilet) and a living/dining room with kitchenette, there is enough space and retreat for four people.
And because in summertime the greater part of the day life takes place outside, there are also three outdoor terraces with comfortable sitting areas that provide shade depending on the time of day and an outdoor shower.

Sifnos
With the ferry from Piraeus/Athens you can reach Sifnos, one of the most beautiful islands of the Cyclades, in about 2-3 hours. The blue sea of the Aegean, white houses under a blue sky and the special light have made the Cyclades famous all over the world - and Sifnos has plenty of all that.
Without an airport, accessible only by boat - tourism has increased but Sifnos has been able to preserve much charm and naturalness such that large bed castles and cruise ships with cohorts of day tourists still do not exist. On the approximately 75 square kilometers, 15 km long and 8 km wide live all year round about 2,500 inhabitants. Besides the landscape with its beaches and the picturesque villages with their narrow streets, Sifnos is famous for its cuisine. In addition, the island is also popular for its donkey paths and hiking trails, some of which are centuries old. About us
We are a German-Greek couple and met 30 years ago on Sifnos. Maria, born in Greece, has known the island since 1974, Stefan, born in Hamburg and raised in Bavaria, was there for the first time in 1993. Since then we have spent our holidays there, at least once every year, and almost 15 years ago we decided to build a vacation home there. Important to us were the location and the typical Cycladic architecture and with the help of an experienced architect we fulfilled our dream in 2011.
We ourselves are regularly on Sifnos, and if we are not there, normally Olga can support you. She speaks good English and is very familiar with our guest house, as she takes care of both houses all year round.
